  • Is HSCG an animal shelter?

    No. While we can, and do, take in cats in many situations, we are not licensed to have more than 10 cats at any one time. We may house cats while looking for their owners or for acceptance into our Second Chance Cats adoption program. Only upon approval.

  • Is HSCG a rescue?

     No. Although some of what we do might be considered 'rescue', we really are not classified nor have the resources to operate a rescue. Our services and mission focus on the spay/neuter support our community needs for the health of all community cats.

  • What kind of help do you offer?

    We offer financial help through two needs-based programs. Our Spay/Neuter voucher program offers $200 vouchers to be used toward a spay/neuter procedure. Learn more and apply here.

    Our vet assistance program offers assistance vouchers up to $200 toward emergency/necessary vet services. Learn more and apply here.

  • Do you have cats and kittens available for adoption? If so, how much does it cost to adopt them?

    HSCG frequently has cats and kittens available for adoption through our Second Chance Cats program. The typical cost to adopt a cat or kitten from HSCG is $175 to $200. This covers the cost of spay/neuter and initial vaccinations. Learn more about our Second Chance Cats program and contact us to find your new furry friend.

  • Do you have a Trap, Neuter, Return (TNR) program, for feral cats, at HSCG?

    Yes, we have a volunteer that focuses on TNR. If you’re concerned about a colony in your neighborhood, contact us. We also rent traps if you want to help. Contact us to rent a trap.

  • How do I surrender a cat to HSCG?

    The first step is to call the HSCG office at 541-942-3130 and see if we have space available.  If we don’t have available space, we can also provide you with other alternatives for your cat.  There is a $35 surrender fee to cover veterinary and feed expenses. You cannot surrender a dog or puppy, as we do not have the facilities nor licensing to take care of them.

  • Where does your funding come from?

    HSCG funding comes from a variety of sources. Our primary source of income is generated through sales proceeds at our This and That Thrift store in Cottage Grove. Other sources of funding include:

    • Grants (both national and local) 

    • Community/Estate/Corporate Donations

  • How can I get involved with HSCG?

    There are many ways you can join the HSCG family and make a difference in the lives of cats in our community. Consider volunteering through a variety of ways, including:
